Nature in Pattern
Working with the idea of ‘figure in a landscape’ and the convention of flowers signifying condolence, I have used images of flowers and foliage to create a patterned surface texture to become a continuous landscape, like wallpaper. Invented flora placed in a drawn vessel attributes a sense of character, as in a cartoon, particularly when animated and used to sentimentalise a depicted personality that doesn’t exist outside of the drawing. Is absent in life.
